Worship Ministry
Music is not the only element in corporate worship, but has always been a deep and powerful way for God’s people to express their thankfulness and adoration for the God who so mercifully rescued us.
The music ministry at Second Baptist Church is a community of musicians with a desire to spread God’s glory broader and deeper in corporate worship. Here at SBC, we realize that the forms of worship may change and vary even from week to week, but the essence of worship will always be constant. All true worship begins and ends with God Himself.
“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever. Amen” (Romans 11:36 ESV).
| We desire to serve the body here at SBC with music that is in spirit (sincere, heartfelt, emotional, passionate) and in truth (Christ centered, biblical, theological, confessional). According to the Scriptures, this is the kind of worship in which God brings glory to His Son (John 4:20-26). The apostle Paul puts it this way: |  |
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16 ESV).
Our desire is to express outwardly what we believe inwardly.The various music ministries at SBC continually aim toward undistracting excellence in our music and service, striving to grow spiritually, musically, and in our fellowship with one another, all in effort to serve Christ’s church and bring Him the glory due His name.
